Loeb and Frequelin eye the big pictureThe Citroen C4 has proven particularly effective of the gravel events so far this year with
Sebastien Loeb taking back to back victories in Mexico and then last Sunday in Portugal.
"It's important to see that the C4 is competitive
on this gravel, as it is different gravel from Mexico and we can expect that the car, we hope, is competitive on the other surfaces as well," explained Citroen boss Guy Fréquelin.
With the rules stating that engines must last for two events, reliability will be key for Loeb as he aims for more championship success.
"We are reliable so far but now we know the engine must do the next rally in Sardinia and also in Greece,” Fréquelin continued. “But it is difficult to say it is reliable, as we must do two more rallies with the same engine. And the next rally, Argentina, is the same engine as in Mexico. And it is very difficult to say.
We will see and we will know after Greece if we are reliable."
Loeb himself is well aware that with the points system as it is, finishing each event is critical.
“We understand now that if you retire from one rally, it's really hard to come back again,” Loeb said. “Last year, I used to finish second when I couldn't win and I think Marcus is doing the same this year. It takes a lot of time to recover some points. For sure, I will try to fight for the win again in Argentina…”
