Although he prefers snow to gravelIn a few days from now, most teams and drivers will be attacking a land of unknowns with the return of Rally Portugal. Amongst them, we will find Stobart VK M-Sport driver Henning Solberg at the wheel of his Ford Focus RS WRC 06.
Solberg
currently stands fifth in the driver's championship; however his last race outing brought home zero points. Before looking forward to the next event, the Norwegian reminisced on his latest performance in the southern section of North America. "The car felt really good in Mexico and this was clear from my times," Solberg reflected. "I don't really plan to make any major changes to the set-up."
Different road conditions call for different driving styles. "I find the gravel slightly more difficult than snow and ice but now I have a much better feeling with the car, so I'm quite confident going into the rally.
Realistically, I am aiming for a top five position again," adds Henning.
Solberg is ready to confront his peers on the mostly hard-packed gravel of the Algarve. "I've never done this rally before but I think the stages will be similar to what we've just experienced in Mexico. It's still only my second gravel rally in this car so I'll be looking to take things steady as well as trying to put in some good times," concludes the Stobart driver.
