Taking action against the FIALate in February the FIA announced that Pirelli had won the tender to be the official tyre supplier to the World Rally Championship in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Michelin, via their BFGoodrich brand, currently supply all of the front-running
teams in the WRC and today announced that they are to initiate legal proceedings against the FIA. The following is a statement from Michelin claiming irregularities in the tender process.
"Michelin initiates legal proceedings against the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) before the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris and requests that the 27 February 2007 decision of the World Motor Sport Council of the FIA granting Pirelli the exclusive supply of tyres for the 2008-2009-2010 World Rally Championships (WRC) be annulled due to irregularities in the tender process."
