Norway : Aimont Racing - Leg 1Gigi Galli and Giovanni Bernacchini put in a fine performance today in Norway in the Citroen Xsara WRC and ended the first leg of the Norwegian Rally in sixth position overall.
Galli completed the first two special stages without pushing
too much. On the second pass on stage Loten he notched up the third best stage time and in the following stage, Grue, they posted the second best time of the stage, just 0.9s behind World Rally Champion,
Sebastien Loeb.
After a 15 minutes service park near Kirkenaer, drivers had to tackle four stages in a row inside the Kondvinger forest.
In special stage six Galli suffered a spin losing time and dropping from fourth to sixth position overall. In the remaining two stages before the overnight halt in Hamar Galli he drove steadily maintaining his position.
“Everything's fine,” said Galli.
“We are satisfied with today's stage times. In the last two stages I lost concentration. We'll try to keep a good pace tomorrow as well."
“It's been a good day” said Pierfrancesco Zanchi Team Manager of Aimont Racing Team. "Gigi obtained very good times today and has been always high in the overall standings. The spin he suffered in SS6 made him lose time, but he had a steady drive and we are satisfied with the Citroen Xsara.”
