Sweden : OMV BIXXOL Rally Team - FinnishIt was a conciliatory ending for the OMV BIXXOL Rally Team with Andrej Jereb and Miran Kacin at the Swedish Rally. The Slovenian OMV duo finished the group N ranking in excellent ninth overall place.
Martin Prokop and Jan
Tomanek of the OMV BIXXOL Rally Team CZ achieved four top ten times during the third day. But following two flats they ran out of tyres and therefore the Czech OMV duo had to retire prior to the super stage in Karlstad.
Andrej Jereb is satisfied with the third day of the Sweden Rally. After his cold had gotten better he was able to focus more on the car. Together with the right set-up of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX by Stohl-Racing this added up to an improvement by eight places as compared to Saturday.
Thus the team finished the group N ranking in excellent ninth overall place. But scoring points in the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship will only be possible for the first time in Mexico.
“Unfortunately we lost two days due to my illness," said Jereb. "The result is okay for my first time on snow but we are too far behind as times go.
Still, it was a wonderful experience and I am sure that we will compete more often in Sweden in the future."
The final day of the Sweden Rally saw the OMV BIXXOL Rally Team CZ in excellent form. Martin Prokop and Jan Tomanek achieved two sixth, one seventh and one ninth-best time in the PCar WRC. Unfortunately then they had to retire once again.
“We had two flats during the last two special stages," Prokop explained. "This was prior to a drive of over 100 kilometres to the super stage in Karlstad. Since we didn't have any more spare tyres we didn't want to take this risk and gave up. Furthermore, we didn't stand a chance of scoring points following our retirements on Friday and Saturday. It would have been a wanton ruining of the car."
