Cyprus : Syms Racing Team Subaru / PCWRC - Finish
Aki Teiskonen finished second in the PCWRC series of the 2006 Cyprus Rally. He started the day four minutes behind Fumio Nutahara, and 46 seconds ahead Khalid Al-Qassimi.
Al-Qassimi was left more behind right at the beginning
of the day so he had a chance for radical experiments.
"We changed to a new version of shock absorbers since we started to have enough difference to both directions. New absorbers were clearly better so the last kilometres were very comfortable," said Teiskonen.
The Finn is very satisfied with the outcome of the weekend, though the roads of Cyprys don't belong to his favourites. "We got the points we needed, though this weekend was mainly stalking and driving carefully. These roads are not made for driving on a rally," he added.
Teiskonen took quite a leap in the championship standings with his eight points.
Although Fumio Nutahara – second in the standings - strengthened his position with his win.
"I've got realistic chances for third place. Even being second isn't impossible, though that won't happen without some misfortune to Nutahara," said Teiskonen. "Luckily there are have two of my favourite rallies left, New Zealand and Australia. In those rallies we'll have a chance to drive fast, which suits me."
