Planning a 'fast but smart' rally
Aki Teiskonen will drive his fourth rally of this season P-WRC series in Cyprus. He hasn't driven on the roads of Cyprus before, but he assisted his team-mate there last year.
“Those roads are – if possible – even worse than the paths
of Greek where I drove earlier this season," Teiskonen said. "That'll mean hard time for the equipment: there will be a risk of punctures and other kind of misfortune all the time."
He says he is going to drive 'fast, but smart' aiming to be amongst the top three but the ultimate aim is to be first.
“If I can avoid punctures and I don't have to use the Super Rally - rule, I should be among the top three,” Teiskonen calculates.
Some of his competitors, Toshi Arai and Nasser Al-Attiyah, among others have driven on Cyprus before.
“That will of course give them a benefit, though the routes have been altered,” Teiskonen explained.
Now, when there are three competitions left in the P-WRC series, Aki Teiskonen is ninth overall with 11 points. Leader Al-Attiyah has amassed 34 points, but the next eight are among ten points with 11-20 points respectively.
Teiskonen says he will drive for the second place of the series in the last competitions.
“Drivers have different amount of rallies left and differences in points are small," Teiskonen said. "I'll have a good chance for that. I just have to drive at least at the pace of the others in the last rallies."
