For Rally DeutschlandAfter the summer break, the World Rally Championship will resume with Rally Deutschland, the third and final asphalt event of the season. 77 crews registered for the race which will take place from 11-13 August 2006.
Dani Sordo has been confirmed
as the new second driver at Kronos Citroen WRT. The Spaniard will replace Xavier Pons as the number two driver. Pons will also drive a Citroen Xsara WRC but will not be nominated to score points for his team.
The Ford World Rally Team will arrive in Germany with their usual drivers,
Marcus Gronholm and Mikko Hirvonen.
At Subaru, Stephane Sarrazin is nominated as the second driver in the team. The Frenchman and Petter Solberg will try to score points for Subaru while Chris Atkinson will be at the start at the wheel of an Impreza WRC entered by the Subaru Australia Rally Team.
Mattias Ekstrom will replace Harri Rovanpera at Red Bull Skoda. Ekstrom and Andreas Aigner will both drive Fabia WRCs on the German stages.
Stepan Vojtech will have the opportunity of driving a Peugeot 307 WRC prepared by Bozian Racing.
We can also note the presence of two BMW 120s, one Opel Astra and a Skoda Fabia, all powered by diesel engines.
