Acropolis : OMV CEE / PCWRC - Leg 2
The material-killing special stages of the second day of the Acropolis Rally also proved fatal for the Slovenian OMV Team Andrej Jereb/Miran Kacin.
Two tyre damages on the twelfth special stage had them drop back from sixth to ninth
place in the Production Car World Rally Championship. But time and again they nevertheless impressed with fast times.
Heavy labour on SS 12
Andrej Jereb will remember the twelfth special stage of the Acropolis Rally for quite some time. On the 37,33 kilometres long stage the OMV driver encountered his first flat only 10 kilometres into the stage. Following the changing of the tyre during the stage he had a déjà vu another 10 kilometres later on. But this time there was a further problem. Jereb: “It took us a comparatively long time to find a place to change the tyre, where we wouldn't interfere with the following cars. Due to this we unfortunately lost a lot of ground and dropped out of scoring range.
But we will give our all on Sunday to reach the finish in Athens and perhaps win one or more WRC points.” The ‘changing game' on SS 12 alone cost over seven minutes.
On Sunday five special stages with a length of 100,14 kilometres are scheduled. For the final super stage (SS 18) the rally will return to the Olympic Stadium in Athens. The restart will be at 06:40 in Athens. The first car will cross the finish ramp at about 14:20.
