Acropolis : Atolye Kazaz - Preview
After a successful result in Italy with Kristian Sohlberg scoring his first WRC points by finishing 6th overall, Atolye Kazaz heads to Greece for the 8th round of World Rally Championship.
Aris Vovos will be at the wheel of Atolye Kazaz
run Subaru Impreza S11 WRC for the BP Ultimate Acropolis Rally, which will be his fifth event with the Turkish team.
The Greek hero has good memories with the team as he finished 12th overall on his home soil last year. For this year, Vovos aims to repeat his success of 2004 where he finished 8th setting competitive times amongst top drivers. Long term co-driver Loris Meletopoulos “EL-EM” will be alongside Vovos, on his first event with the S11 WRC.
Vovos got in the S11 for the first time in Athens for one day test where the team specifically concentrated on set up of the Subaru Impreza WRC. After completing valuable kilometers, the Greek legend was very happy with his first run with the S11.
“We did a good job by rebuilding the car right after Italy in less than a week,” Atolye Kazaz Team Director Ercan Kazaz commented. “This rally is really important for us as it is the home event for Vovos and “EL-EM”. The Acropolis Rally is the hardest event on the calendar.
I hope our driver Aris Vovos will enjoy his run in our Pirelli-shod Subaru Impreza. I have to point out that the organisation has taken incredible measures to increase the popularity of the event. And I think this is the right approach for all the events for the future. Popularity means more support from sponsors.”
