The final stage of Leg 1, La Cumbre-Agua de Oro 1, ended with an unexpected result, two Peugeot drivers although from two different teams and both representing different tyres makes finished in first and second positions.
Manfred Stohl who is taking part in his 100th WRC
event took the stage victory by a margin of 23 over Gigi Galli. Both men are driving Peugeot 307s, Stohl's car equipped with Michelin tyres while Galli's car wears' Pirellis.
Petter Solberg finished in front of his main rival Sebastien Loeb
, the Norwegian taking third place, nine tenths faster than the Kronos driver. Loeb remains the leader of the race, 198 ahead of the Subaru driver.
Dani Sordo achieved his second consecutive top five stage time. The Spaniard is followed by Henning Solberg in sixth place and Matthew Wilson is seventh position, which is the best stage result so far in the race by the young British driver.
In the cumulative race standings, Gigi Galli is third, followed by two other Peugeot drivers: Manfred Stohl (4th) and Henning Solberg (5th).
Dani Sordo is holding on to sixth position, 143 seconds ahead of Chris Atkinson. Matthew Wilson (8th), Luis Perez Companc (9th) and Gareth Mac Hale complete the top ten.
