Tour de Corse : OMV / JWRC - Leg 1
Aaron Burkart and Tanja Geilhausen do have reason to be satisfied with leg one of the Rallye de France – Tour de Corse. The OMV Junior Team finished the day in eleventh place in the FIA Junior World Rally Championship.
had been exchanged during the service after two special stages in order to get more speed and drive coming out of the numerous turns.
Unchartered territory Corsica
Aaron Burkart is currently facing his seventh assignment in the WRC and his first in Corsica. Thus the event in France is once again unchartered territory for the OMV rookie. “Somehow I keep stepping on my own two feet. I brake too long and can't get speed coming out of the turns. If I step off the brake earlier, on the other hand, the car starts to understeer enormously,” said Burkart after the first two special stages.
Thus the stabilisers of the Citroen C2 Super 1600 were exchanged by the PRT Motorsport team during the following service in order to get more speed and drive coming out of the numerous turns.
Aaron Burkart's performance already visibly improved during the afternoon, according to Team Manager Jürgen Bertl: “We watched the third special stage and there was definitely some improvement. Our goal is to gather as many race kilometres as possible this year in order to gain experience and, of course, find the ideal set-up for Aaron. Today already pointed us into the right direction but there still lies a lot of hard work in front of us.”
