With Gronholm and Hirvonen
Ford is working hard to prepare for the next two rounds of the World Championship: Rally Catalunya from 23-26 March and the Tour de Corse from 7-9 April.
These two events are asphalt rallies and Ford's goal is to find the best set-up for the
Focus WRC in these specific conditions. Marcus Gronholm
and Mikko Hirvonen were in Spain for the test, driving the Focus in the Ripoll region.
“It won't be easy to win in Catalunya because the competition will be tough,” admitted Marcus Gronholm
. “However, after this test, I can say that the Focus is handling very well. Asphalt is not my favourite surface so if we are not able to win, a second place would be a good result.”
“During this test, we were able to make many changes to the differentials, suspensions and the tyres,” added the Finn. “Even if I took part in only three races with my new team, the atmosphere is great and working in perfect harmony with all the members of the Ford World Rally Team is a true pleasure.”Marcus Gronholm
was leading the championship until Sebastien Loeb
won Rally Mexico, pushing the Finn down to second position in the drivers' standings. “I did a stupid mistake in Mexico,” said the Ford driver. “Because of that, the results in Catalunya and Corsica will be very important.”
Stobart VK M-Sport will also be testing the Focus in Spain to prepare for Rally Catalunya.
