Mexico : SS 16 - 18.01 km
The Silao timed event – SS16 - is made up of fast sections of road that also include jumps and many challenging corners. While it is only 18 kilometres, Silao is still a tough test for the drivers.
Petter Solberg finished at the top of the time
sheets, beating Marcus Gronholm
by a mere three tenths of a second. The Ford drivers moved ahead of Production class leader Toshi Arai in the race standings and is now in a point-scoring position for the drivers' championship. His eighth place could translate to a point if he keeps his position until the end of the race.
Race leader Sebastien Loeb
set the third fastest time, losing only 1”3 over Solberg. The Kronos driver has a comfortable lead of 49 seconds with only one stage to go.
Dani Sordo achieved another fine stage results, taking fourth place. The Spaniard is followed by Mikko Hirvonen (fifth), Chris Atkinson (sixth), Manfred Stohl (seventh) and Henning Solberg (eighth).
The drivers are now heading back West to Leon for the final timed event of the race, the Nextel Super Special.
