Lebanon MERC - Kronos Racing - Finish
Saudi driver Yazeed Al Rajhi and French co-pilot Matthieu Baumel finished in third position of the Rally of Lebanon which took place on last weekend in the Beirut area.
The Rally of Lebanon is the only round of the 2009 FIA Middle
East Rally Championship (MERC) to take place on tarmac and was won by local driver Roger Feghali, followed by Lebanese driver Gilbert Bannut, both competing with Mitsubishi.
By finishing third on their first participation in a race on tarmac with the Peugeot Kronos, Yazeed and Matthieu have made an excellent operation as they finish at the top of the list of drivers of the FIA. championship and won the ten-point victory.
"I am delighted because we have met our target which was to take the ten points giving us the chance to take the lead of the championship," explained Yazeed, at the foot of the podium.
"The car behaved extremely well and the new A31 BFGoodrich tires were wonderful on this specific road. I therefore have the pleasure to pass summer at the lead of the championship and already look forward to be in Cyprus, where the next round will take place in October," he concluded.
