Poland - Petter Solberg World Rally Team - Preview
The 8th event on this year's World Rally Championship calendar is coming up, and the Petter Solberg World Rally Team is heading for Rally Poland, a brand new event in the championship taking place on gravel.
park and rally headquarters are based in the city of Mikolajki, 230kms north of Warszawa. 55 cars are on the entry list for the rally.
Petter Solberg arrived in Poland last Sunday evening, and spent the following day testing his Citroen Xsara WRC.
"This is going to be an exciting event," Solberg said, despite a bit of concern regarding his car's engine: "Poland is very fast and I think we need more power to be able to push as hard as we want."
During the previous race at Greece's Acropolis Rally, the PSWRT outfit was forced to retire from the event on Day Two.
Petter Solberg fully expects to reach the finish - and if possible another podium - come Sunday afternoon in Poland.
Therefore, on this new event, the recce and taking down good pace notes will be very important.
"We drive through the stages only twice before the rally starts, and it is important to be accurate," the Norwegian explained. "If you want to fight for podiums, you have to have it perfect!"
Rally Poland starts with a super special stage on Thursday evening, with the proper gravel stages starting this Friday morning.
