Acropolis - Petter Solberg World Rally Team - Preview
The World Rally Championship heads to Greece this weekend, to the city of Loutraki about 80 kilometres west of Athens, marking the beginning of the season's second half.
Six out of twelve events appearing on the
2009 WRC calendar have been completed and Petter Solberg is 5th overall in the drivers' championship.
"I really look forward to Greece," he said. "This is a rally that suits me well. The stages are twisty and rocky and are going to be a real challenge for both car and crew."
During the previous event which took place in Sardinia, the team's Citroen Xsara WRC suffered from the heat and consequently lost some of its engine power - and in Greece the temperatures will be even higher.
However the Petter Solberg World Rally Team engineers have worked hard on improving the Xsara's capabilities, so Solberg is targeting another podium finish in Greece to follow his third-place result in Sardinia.
"We have worked hard to prepare the car for this event," the Norwegian said. "I really hope to be on the podium again on Sunday."
47 cars are on the entry list for the rally, all of which plan to tackle the 371kms and 17 stages on the weekend's programme.
Solberg has done well in Greece many times before, including victory in 2004 and a second-place finish in 2008.
