Anticipating the start of the Belgian ChampionshipLarry Cols conducted his first tests aboard the Volkswagen Polo Super 2000, thereby discovering his new ride a month ahead of becoming an official Belgian VW Club driver at the East Belgian rally.
He participated
in the test session last week, using an entire day to set up his Polo for the Belgian Championship.
"The car is a real pleasure to drive but we still need to work on some issues in order to adapt the car to my driving style, which is very different to Freddy Loix's style," Cols reported.
"It is not an unknown problem, the car suffers from understeer at the entry of tight corners," he added. "It's a problem similar to experiences I had with my previous cars such as the Clio and Punto S1600.
With the Mitsubishi from Colsoul, they even had to produce a differential just for me."
"That's what René Georges Rally Sport will do for the new Polo which they are building for me as we speak," said Cols, already looking forward to his next opportunity at the wheel: "We will test that car some days previous to our first rally."
