Catalunya - OMV Kronos Citroën WRT - FinishThe OMV Kronos Citroën World Rally Team has finished Rally Catalunya on the Costa Daurada with a feeling of success. The Belgian-French duo of Francois Duval and Patrick Pivato secured a very good fifth overall place.
This
means four points both in the FIA World Rally Championsghip for drivers as well as in the manufacturers' ranking. OMV driver Manfred Stohl, on the other hand, is left with the hope for a good result in Corsica next week.
Fifth place also means that Francois Duval has reached the best possible result. Reason enough for the Belgian OMV driver to be very satisfied with the achievement.
Duval: "The four works drivers ahead of me gave a nearly faultless performance. Therefore they were simply out of reach for us. We knew that Spain would be an extremely tough rally and that a place on the podium would only be possible if Citroën or Ford got into trouble.
But I believe that our chances will be better in Corsica where we will be able to compete for a top three place once again."
Thanks to the commitment of Kronos Racing, Manfred Stohl will be able to compete there as well. At the last minute the car which had been prepared for Japan was unpacked again and already transported to Corsica on Sunday. Now the mechanics are given two days' time to reconvert the chassis frame for tarmac.
"That is really a great accomplishment by the team – and I want to thank them by reaching a good result in Corsica," explains the Austrian OMV driver.
