History repeats itself in KocaeliErcan Kazaz, the 2006 Turkish Rally Champion, repeated history by winning last weekend's Kocaeli Rally for the second year in a row with his Lukoil Subaru Impreza S11 WRC.
The Turkish Rally Championship's fifth event was full
of action as 58 crews competed over 129.96 kilometres on 14 gravel stages.
Kazaz surprised everyone in the field as he came back to action, taking the lead with the first proper stage, SS2 Toylar, and taking the win 34 seconds ahead of Ford Focus WRC driver Emre Yurdakul. Ford Rally Sport Turkey driver Hakan Dinc finished the event in third place.
The Lukoil crew of Ercan Kazaz/Cem Bakancocuklari extended their championship lead with their Kocaeli Rally win, and now stand with good hopes of winning the Turkish Rally Championship title once again.
Ercan Kazaz was more than happy with the result since he could claim 'mission accomplished' with his victory over three Ford Focus WRCs: "I can hardly find the right words to describe my feelings as we now have a big advantage to clinch the Turkish Championship title once again."
"As far as I am concerned the overall title is won but we have to think how to secure our group N championship title as well for Bursa Rally," he added.
