RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada - News from Port Aventura service park after SS2Sebastien Loeb
was very satisfied with his start this morning. Two times World champion* Seb' won the first two stages of the Spanish event, penultimate rally of the season.
pleased with our right tyre choice for dry roads and on medium compound. Pleased because it was quite difficult this morning, even tricky. We knew there was a possibility of rain but it was hard to guess how quickly the roads will dry off. In fact, the further we drove through the first stage, the drier it was. The next speed test, was completely dry. Of course I pushed straight away while remaining a bit cautious in the trickiest parts. However, we had a bit of a hot moment on SS2. The sump guard hit the ground in a right-left corner and as we were going around 200 km/h, we landed in the grass on the side…!"
A small 'hot' moment for François Duval too. "Four of five kilometres into the first stage, I hit something with the rear right of the car. I slowed down immediately as the impact was followed by strong vibrations at the level of the rear right wheel. We replaced it after the stage and everything was ok again. No problem in the next stage." Kronos Racing private Xsara
Xavier Pons was content with 13th fastest time on SS1. "It was a difficult stage, with a lot of wheel spin on a damp road surface. However, SS2 was dry and I could increase the pace. I'm happy with my fourth fastest time."
