Matthew Wilson attendedThe UK's round of the FIA World Rally Championship was launched to the media yesterday (Tuesday 12th June) in Cardiff with Stobart Motorsport playing an integral part in the proceedings.
Wales Rally GB is the final and usually one of the most
exciting rounds of the top series and will be run again in the fast south-Wales forests from the 30th November to the 2nd December.
To help promote this top event in the nation's rallying calendar, Stobart Motorsport supplied one of their Ford Focus WRC rally cars as driven by Britain's only full-time driver in the championship, Cumbrian Matthew Wilson.
Twenty-year-old Wilson, from Cockermouth, has been climbing the WRC ranks during the first half of the 2007 season as part of the Stobart M-Sport Ford rally team in only his second full year of world championship action.
Joining him for Wales Rally GB in December will be the team's two other drivers, Norwegian Henning Solberg and Finn Jari-Matti Latvala.
Stobart Motorsport will be attending various promotional events during the summer including the Whitehaven Maritime Festival this weekend (15th – 17th June) and the massive Goodwood Festival of Speed during the 22nd – 24th June.
Wilson and his team head directly to Spain immediately after Goodwood for a test session ahead of the second half of the WRC season.
