Acropolis: Citroen Sport - ShakedownThe 2007 Acropolis Rally – Round 8 of this year's World Rally Championship – got under way this morning with the usual shakedown session which took crews over a 2.5km test situated a little more than 9km south-west of the service park
in the Olympic Equestrian Centre.
Sebastien Loeb/Daniel Elena and Dani Sordo/Marc Martí completed several runs of the sample stage.
"The profile and surface of the shakedown test was fairly similar to what we will find during the event," commented
Sebastien Loeb. "The morning has got the weekend off to a good start and I am comfortable with the set-up of my C4. We profited from the four-hour session to work with Citroën Sport to make a few fine-tuning changes, notably to the suspension which always faces a punishing test here in Greece!"
Dani Sordo was equally buoyant and pleased with his morning's work after this final chance to test before Friday's start.
"The conditions and characteristics of the stage were very close to what we can expect tomorrow," said the Spaniard. "It gave us a chance to get a good feel for the C4 on this type of terrain and I have to say that it handles very well. We tried several set-ups to see how it reacted to the different changes and that could well pay off during the event."
The opening leg of the final round before the seven-week summer break officially kicks off this evening at 7pm with a 3.2km super-special round the Markopoulo hippodrome.
