Sardinia: OMV Kronos Citroen WRT - Leg 2After twelve of 18 special stages of Rally d'Italia Sardegna, the OMV Kronos Citroën World Rally Team not only secured eighth place, but also has chances for seventh place as they are only 23.3 seconds behind Toni Gardemeister's Mitsubishi
Lancer WRC.
The afternoon of the second day of Rally Sardinia has raised the hopes of Manfred Stohl. The OMV driver managed to reduce the distance to Toni Gardemeister, who still lies in seventh place, from 32.7 to 23.3 seconds. And he plans to catch up the rest on Sunday.
"It will surely be very hard since Toni has been around long enough and knows how to drive fast. But if our Citroen Xsara WRC continues to perform this problem-free I see an opportunity. I will attack right on Sunday morning in any case.
Each second I come closer puts him more and more under pressure," Stohl said.
The third leg of Rally d'Italia Sardegna leads the drivers over 54.74 timed kilometres on Sunday. Like on the two preceding days six special stages are scheduled. The restart in Olbia will take place at 7:00. The finish line of the seventh run to the FIA World Rally Championship 2007 will be crossed at 14:30 in Porto Cervo.
