Argentina : OMV Kronos Citroen WRT - After SS1Manfred Stohl and Ilka Minor kicked off Rally Argentina with a ninth fastest special stage time.
Even though the Austrian duo know the WRC-run in South America very well, they had never completed this special stage.
Almost 70,000 enthusiastic fans cheered the rally aces on to spectacular drifts in the River Plate Stadium of Buenos Aires.
“Super stages basically exist to offer the spectators a good show," explained Stohl.
Consequently the times achieved there are not all-important. The 34-year-old Austrian finished the first, 2.4 kilometre long special stage in ninth place. 5.3 seconds behind victor Mikko Hirvonen.
“I was aware that the Argentinean's are rally enthusiasts. But the vibes of the almost 70,000 fans here were extremely impressive. That makes you cherish each second. And the spectators deserve that you off them a good show instead of just stubbornly concentrating on the circuit."
