One for points, one for experienceNo less than two OMV Bixxol Rally Teams will tackle Rally Argentina from May 3 to 6.
The Romanian OMV duo of Claudiu David and Mihaela Belide will be celebrating their premiere in the FIA World Rally Championship.
They are
not yet entitled to score points for the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship however, as they will only be able to do so later on during their assignments in Japan and at the season's finale in Wales. Therefore, their main objective will be to gather experience.
Claudiu David, the Romanian of the OMV Bixxol Rally Team, is looking forward to his WRC-premiere in Argentina. The 28-year-old OMV driver in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, set up by Stohl-Racing, is nevertheless confident for his first time.
"It is a fantastic opportunity and also a big challenge. At first we naturally want to get used to the conditions. If everything should go according to plan we will then try to increase the speed," said David.
On the other hand, there is more at stake for Stepan Vojtech and Michal Ernst who scored points for the first time with their sixth place in Rally Mexico, in the FIA P-Car WRC ranking.
Following that result, the Czech OMV duo wants to further improve their performance.
Following those obtained three points, Stepan Vojtech (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) has redefined his objectives. From now on the word is to gather as many WRC-points as possible at each rally, especially since he already gained experience in Argentina last year.
"Last year I found out that Argentina is a very tough rally," mentioned the OMV Bixxol Rally Team CZ driver. "But we have learned from our mistakes. This year we have high expectations and definitely want to score points in Rally Argentina even though the starter field of 23 cars will be a tough one," concluded Vojtech.
