Possibly in Argentina...The sixth event of the World Rally Championship will be launched next week when Rally Argentina takes place within the province of Córdoba.
Sebastien Loeb, who is presently leading the championship, counts two consecutive victories in Argentina.
If
the Frenchman manages to take a third victory in South America, he will equal the record held to this day by Carlos Sainz, Tommi Mäkinen, and Miki Biasion, who each have three victories in Argentina. Therein lies a new challenge for Loeb, who took the last two rallies in Mexico and Portugal.
Victorious in Argentina in 2005 and 2006,
Sebastien Loeb will try to rack up a third win for this year's 27th edition, as did Tommi Makinen with his string of victories in 1996, 1997, and 1998 at the wheel of his Mitsubishi Lancer.
The task will not be easy for the Citroën Sport driver as he will be facing a very strong foe named Marcus Grönholm.
The Ford World Rally Team driver had come out on top back in 2003, when he was using a Peugeot 206 WRC at the time.
Of the 77 drivers on the entry list for the 2007 Rally Argentina, only two have actually won an event there, and they happen to both be contenders for this year's championship title :
Sebastien Loeb and Marcus Grönholm.
Marcus Gronholm will be very motivated in Argentina, as he lost the lead of the driver's championship in the hours following last month's Rally Portugal when stewards penalized all Ford cars for having irregular rear window panes.
