Armin Schwarz Sumar
Armin Schwarz enters his second season at the wheel of the Škoda Motorsport World Rally Team’s Fabia WRC as the most experienced driver currently competing in the World Rally Championship having started 104 WRC rallies at the end of the 2004 season. He will contest all 16 events during the 2005 season.
He debuted in the World Championship with Audi 200 Quattro, but soon he joined the team of Toyota and with their car won Catalonia Rally. That time
he won all the 36 speed tests! In 1996 he gained the title of European champion. Beginning from 1999 Armin spent three seasons in Škoda Motorsport Team.
That time he signed the hitherto best success of the team, when finished in the third place of the absolute order in very demanding Safari Rally in 2001. After the first speed test he was even placed first!
Klaus Wicha is one of Germany’s most experienced co-drivers and has been competing at the top level for over 20 years. For 2005 he is reunited with Armin Schwarz, with whom he made his WRC debut in 1989. His career began in 1982, when a friend needed a new co-driver. In 1988 Klaus teamed up with Armin and they won the German Championship with Audi. The pair moved up to the World Rally Championship with Audi, Toyota and Mitsubishi. Klaus has been constantly in demand for drivers contesting the German, Austrian, Czech and British Championships Most recently he has been seen on European Championship events with Quirin Muller, one of the Red Bull Rallye Juniors team.
