Moroccan race always popularIt has been ten years now that the AMV Shamrock has been welcoming motorcycle, 4x4, buggy, quad, special vehicules and truck drivers, may they be professionnals, beginners or newcomers. The loyal participants all appreciate this cross-country
rally, whose layout is designed in the shape of a clover leaf surrounding the town of Laâyoune, in the heart of the Moroccan Sahara.
The tenth edition of this event will be held form 1st to 11th November 2007 and promises to gather a lot of attention once again.
Organized by Jean-Michel Sinet, who will be backed by a solid group of devoted staff members and volunteers, the AMV Shamrock has progressed over the years to become the rally that attracts the most participants after the Dakar event.
It must be said that the characteristics of this cross-country rally are attractive. The entry fee is amongst the lowest of the discipline. The race concept is totally unique with a daily special stage forming a loop around the start/finish point, which can be run once or twice according to the participant's wish. The regulations are flexible since there are no race expulsions even if penalties are applied. Logistics are easy to set up since all contenders return to the same area in Laâyoune each evening.
The special stages are quality runs with much variety for professionals as well as beginners. Many are those who use this venue as excellent training grounds for Dakar.
These last few years, security has been greatly improved with the arrival of e-track systems, which pinpoint the location of runners thanks to real-time satellite telemetry. The Sentinel system also allows drivers to warn each other while passing. Helicopters and medical vehicules complete the measures.
In addition to the pleasure of the drive, we will find the good spirits, the friendliness, and the discovery of the magnificent landscapes of the Moroccan desert near the seashore. The 2007 edition will also offer all particpants a marathon stage with a night on the dunes of southern Morocco, near Boujdour. Undoubtedly, all will appreciate the surprise evening organized for the occasion.
