Robby Gordon/Toyo Tires Win Stage 4 of the 2010 Dakar
Robby Gordon and navigator, Andy Grider, piloted their #302 Monster Energy/Toyo Tires Hummer H3 racer to the win of today's Stage 4 in the 2010 Dakar. Competing on 35X12.50R17 Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires, Gordon
and Grider won by a margin of only one second on the 163-kilometer (101-mile) Atacama Desert stage for a time of 1:40.21. Running from Fiambala, Argentina to Copiapo, Chile; the stage was shortened by the organizers from the originally planned 203 km due to the heavy damage inflicted on all of the competitors' vehicles on Stage 3. This allowed more time in the morning for all of the competitors to prepare their vehicles.
"We congratulate Robby Gordon of Team Hummer for winning today's Stage 4 of Dakar," said Steve Hutchinson, vice-president of marketing, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. "Gordon has again demonstrated he can win in the toughest conditions, in the most difficult race on earth, on Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires."
In 2009, Gordon and Grider finished third overall in the Dakar with their Toyo Tires equipped Hummer H3. They were the only two-wheel-drive vehicle to finish in the top ten.
