For Rally of Tunisia 2009For the Rally of Tunisia 2009, competitors will meet at Marseille for the boarding. Administrative checks will start on the boat during the cruise and the technical scrutineering will take place at Tunis on the beachfront.
The Rally departure
will be a fantastic moment to be celebrated at Tunis. After, the race takes place! This year, NPO restricts vastly the links. 6 stages out of 11 will be only on selective sectors, without links. 7 stages will occur in Tunisia and 4 in Libya.
One marathon stage of 850 km on two days is planned in Libya, with a bivouac between pilots and without assistance.
The assistance course will be 100% tar, which means accessible for all the vehicles.
Stéphane Clair and the team just come back from the course pre-recognition in Libya. The schedule: sand, sand and more sand.
David Casteu and Vectra Team are in the starting-blocks !
Just back in his native South David Casteu already turned to his next objective, the Rally of Tunisia.
Team Vectra will indeed be present in force with no less than five drivers.
Although Marcel Butuza, Team Manager, must undergo surgery soon on the shoulder, this should not prevent it from starting line.
David will be accompanied by Frans Verhoeven (recent winner of two stages in Argentina), Francisco Lopez, better known as "Chaleco", the Chilean marvel, and Ludovic Boisnard, a French "exile" in the U.S. who is familiar with the African tracks...
Still very excited to participate in a great race, David Casteu particularly appreciates this type of terrain. Faced with Marc Coma and Cyril Despres, the battle promises to be very high.
