Modified schedule, shortened stage
Several competitors had not yet completed the stage between Neuquen and San RafaŽl when the following run from San RafaŽl to Mendoza was set to begin this morning.
After listing the unlucky drivers still stuck in the dunes, the race
organisers proceded with some decision-making. The first change was to delay today's start by two hours, a target time which was postponed a further half-hour later on.
Adding to the modified programme, the survey of a river ford appearing on the timed portion of today's intinerary resulted in it being deemed impassable.
The stage was therefore reduced from the originally-planned 395km to 178km, thereby cutting the distance in half.
