A crew to aim for victory
A crew to aim for victory … the duo of Strugo and Brucy should light the touch paper with the Pathfinder T2. For Jean-Pierre Strugo, to aim for victory is a real possibility :
« As an experienced competitor in T2, my aim is to win the category.
Third two years ago, second last year … let's hope that this year is the right one. The route looks very difficult, which is good for an experienced T2 crew. I think that, with Jean, we have a good chance. Between us, we have done about 40 Dakars, which is quite an impressive score…. We have a good hand to play. The fight for victory will be between Nissan and Toyota. We will also have a faithful supporter in Nouakchott : my usual navigator, Yves Ferri, who now lives in Mauritania for professional reasons. »
Just like Jean-Pierre Strugo, Jean Brucy's morale is high : « It is a fine challenge for me to take part in this year's Dakar with Jean-Pierre Strugo. There is no need to introduce him; this will be his 23rd participation, and over 22 editions of the Dakar, he has reached the finish line 14 times – which is a massive result in a car ! He is a very reliable driver, and he respects the machinery. I am very confident. Our aim is to win the T2 category, and I am very pleased to have this opportunity. As for me, this will be my 19th Dakar, after 16 on two wheels, and my third as a navigator.
Between us, we are up to 40 Dakars and counting, which is not too bad ! If, with all that experience, we don't manage to keep out of trouble… It is really a fine challenge. As far as the route is concerned, every year they say it is difficult, but this time, I think it's true… but we hope to manage to get through it !»
