Dakar start and Bundesliga duel
Motorsport meets football: On Saturday, 15 December, the Volkswagen team will take its leave to head for the Dakar Rally, followed by a match between VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund. For the "Dakar? departure, the motorsport squad will
present itself with its race and service vehicles on the "Plaza? at the VOLKSWAGEN Arena of Wolfsburg's Allerpark from 1 to 2.30 p.m. and afterwards keep its fingers crossed for the "Wolves? from Wolfsburg for the meeting between the two national league football teams.
"On 15 December the fans will have the fantastic opportunity to get to know our team members close-up in personal conversations, to have their fan articles signed and, with a little luck, to even win a fast taxi ride in the Race Touareg,? announced Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen.
For the 30th anniversary of the Dakar Rally ? which starts in Lisbon on 05 January ? Volkswagen will take leave of its local fans with a large line-up: It includes Dieter Depping from Wedemark and his co-driver Timo Gottschalk from Berlin, who will be making their d颵t in the Race Touareg at the 2008 "Dakar". Dirk von Zitzewitz from Karlshof in the Northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein as co-driver of the South African Giniel de Villiers will also be there to answer questions from the audience, as will be the Frenchman Michel P鲩n who, together with Carlos Sainz, won the 2007 FIA Cross-Country World Cup.
Mark Miller, who finished last year's Dakar Rally in fourth place with co-driver Ralph Pitchford, will come to Wolfsburg from the United States. During the half-time break at the Arena, Dr Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Brand with responsibility for Development, will provide insights into the "Dakar? preparations together with Kris Nissen.
At the same time, action scenes on the stadium's video projection screens will give impressions of the most famous of all desert rallies.
Definite eye-catchers in front of the VOLKSWAGEN Arena will be the line-up of vehicles and the show stage: Four Race Touareg vehicles as well as numerous Service Touareg vehicles, T5 Transporter vans sporting offroad trim and MAN trucks can be "inspected? by the spectators. Stadium presenter Christian Haacke will emcee the show programme of VFL Wolfsburg, Hit Radio Antenne and Volkswagen Motorsport. The fans can look forward to true motorsport flair and the chance to win one of many prizes, which include rides in the Race Touareg during the event.
