Special appearance at opening of Rally Ireland
he Red Bull team's VW Touareg, the top in cross-country rallying, will make a special appearance at the Super Special Stage event to be held when Rally Ireland kicks off on Thursday the 15th of November in Stormont, Belfast.
Northern Ireland's own Eddie Irvine will be there to take the wheel of the Red Bull VW Touareg on this very special occasion.
Cheered on by his home crowd, expect the 'Swerve' to show he still has what it takes when he thrills the crowd with a demonstration of what the Touareg can do. Irvine famously drove in Formula 1 for Jordan and partnered all-time great Michael Schumacher
The spectator-friendly event, which opens the first-ever round of the World Rally Championship to visit Ireland, kicks off on Thursday 15th November at 6pm and sees the top rally drivers compete head to head around the Parliament Buildings grounds, with a flying finish over the specially-designed Creagh Bridge.
Rally Ireland will then move to Sligo where it will be based for the weekend as different stages are held throughout the North-West region.
World Rally legend Carlos Sainz recently captured the World driver's title in the Red Bull VW Touareg but his place in Belfast will be taken by a retiree from another sport!
The sport of cross-country rallying is most famous for the epic Dakar Rally, which takes the competitors through the desert plains of West Africa.
