Dakar organisers exclude Al Attiyah
Rally leader missed too many way points
The news fell over the bivouac in mid-evening: Dakar Rally boss Etienne Lavigne announced that the current rally leader in the cars category has been ruled out of the event.

Alphand retires from Dakar Rally
Co-driver Picard airlifted to hospital
Luc Alphand has retired from the Dakar Rally due to health problems affecting his co-driver, Gilles Picard.

A dozen kilometres into today's stage, the crew stopped their Mitsubishi Lancer in order to dig out some sand. Picard was in the process of doing so when he suddenly felt sick.
