As Repsol Honda tests at QatarStrong winds brought an early halt to Sunday's MotoGP test at the Losail circuit near Doha as many teams remained at the 5.380km (3.343 miles) track following the Grand Prix of Qatar.
World Champion Nicky Hayden was able to complete
28 laps in the morning, analysing adjustments to the settings of his RC212V.
But with 40mph gusts threatening to blow the bikes off line and an average wind speed of 27mph at the flat and exposed circuit, it soon became too risky to ride at maximum pace.
Hayden's Spanish team-mate, Dani Pedrosa, wasn't scheduled to test today.
The Repsol Honda Team now jets to Spain for the first European round of the 2007 season which takes place at Jerez on March 25.
Nicky Hayden Best lap time: 1m 59.11s - 28 laps
"It was really windy today - so strong that we had to stop early. Though the track had a lot of sand blowing on it the grip wasn't actually too bad. More than anything the wind was pushing the bike around and really quick lap times were hard to set without taking a lot of risks in the fast corners. We waited for some time but it never really cleared up and we didn't want to lead ourselves down the wrong path.
So now I'm looking forward to moving on to Jerez for the next race - I want to go there and have some fun. Thanks to the team because I was the one who wanted to stay for this test and, though we couldn't get a whole lot done today, it was worth sticking around."
