Lorenzo dominant in opening 250cc race
Qatar : 250cc race
Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar 250cc race winner Jorge Lorenzo began his title defence in style at the Losail International circuit.

Swiss rider Thomas Luthi took the hole shot but finished fourth after he was soon overtaken by Spaniard Lorenzo
who then led for the remainder of the race on his Fortuna Aprilia mount.

A valiant effort from Master - MVA Aspar's Alex de Angelis saw him finish second after working his way through the pack following a poor start, while Team Toth Aprilia's Hector Barbera crossed the finishing line third having looked so strong in practice and qualifying. Fifth placed Andrea Dovizioso was the highest placed Honda rider.

It was a day to forget for 125cc World Champion Alvaro Bautista who crashed out on the second lap of his 250 debut, while KTM will hope for more luck in the next Grand Prix in Jerez in two weeks time after Mika Kallio was forced to retire when in 7th place with only two laps to go while Hiroshi Aoyama crashed out early on
