“I considered it with serenity and tranquillity”
Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama was the subject of much speculation last weekend, with rumours linking him with Kawasaki.
Whilst Aoyama has confirmed that he received an offer from a MotoGP team, he didn't want to speak
about the details, despite the fact that both Harald Bartol and Harold Eckl, KTM and Kawasaki Racing managers respectively, acknowledged the talks.
"I did receive an offer from a MotoGP team. I considered it with serenity and tranquillity, because it was a big opportunity to compete in the premier class. I expressed my decision to KTM, and I think that they will announce what my intentions are in the next few days," said the twice 250cc race winner.
Aoyama currently lies in fourth place in the championship, ten points behind Alex de Angelis. It is his first season with KTM and he has already rewarded their confidence in him with seven podiums.
"After the summer the bike has been even more competitive.
I'm itching to get to Valencia and fight for third place in the classification, and I think it would be a fitting way of thanking my team for their hard work and our sponsors for their support."
