Sepang : Pramac d'Antin - Preview
Three races in three weeks without any possibility of breathing and an important result to conquest are the aims of the Team Pramac d'Antin MotoGP after the small break that followed the last race in Brno.
The first race will take
place in the Asian continent with the Malaysian Grand Prix, and will be followed by Australia and Japan.
After having replaced the injured rider Sete Gibernau in Czech Republic, the German Alex Hofmann is back on the Ducati Desmosedici GP06 “Sat.” (Dunlop tires) of the Team Pramac d'Antin MotoGP. As his team mate José Luis Cardoso, he's ready to face these three races out of Europe of the last part of the season.
The first session of free practice will be on Friday 8 September at 10.00 a.m. in Malaysia (GMT+8).
Luis d'Antin (Team Manager): "The next three weeks will surely be very intensive as there won't be any break. We will face the first round on the circuit of Sepang, where the climate is very hot and humid. Thanks to the Winter Test, we will already have a good base to begin the practice. Alex Hofmann will be back with us and we will work as much as possible to make a good race and satisfy all our sponsors and fans."
Alex Hofmann: "I've always liked to race in Malaysia, it's a very technical track, with two long straights and every kind of corners. Of course, the temperatures are really high but that's not a problem for me. Last weekend, I did some training in a race with cars of 300cv and the temperatures inside the machines were very high as well. In Sepang, we will make our maximum as we always do and I hope to be able to make a good race.
José Luis Cardoso: "I know this track very well as I race there many times in the past and I like it a lot. Thanks to the Winter Test that we made in the pre-season, we have many references and this will help us to work in a good way. Three races in three weeks are a lot but I'm ready and I will make my best. I hope everything will go in the best way, I really would like to obtain a good result."
CIRCUIT DETAILS – The Circuit of Sepang is near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and is one of the longest in the MotoGP World Championship calendar, 5548 meters and 15 corners (5 left and 10 right corners). This race is the 12th in Malaysia. After the first time in Shah Alam in 1991, the races of the World Championship remained there until 1998, year in which it was in Johor.
Then, from 1999 it's took place in Sepang. A part of the Winter Test are organized there, its track has a very good grip and there are no holes or imperfections. It's also very wide and the riders and the bikes have to be very agile because there is a big variety of corners and the straights are very fast.
The changes of inclination and elevation in some of the fastest corners do solicit extremely the grip of the motorcycle in the entry and the exit of the corners, so a perfect balance is needed. The warmth and humidity, both so high, do make the work of the riders and the motorcycles very hard, as for the technicians and people working on the pit-lane.
