Last Monday the entire Aprilia Racing Division at company headquarters in the northern Italian town of Noale turned out to celebrate the recent win by Max Biaggi and the RSV4 at Brno.
One week ago the Italian took the RSV4 machine, in its debut season in the Superbike World
Championship, to its maiden win in race 1, following that up in race 2 with a second place behind winner Ben Spies.
"I am so delighted to be able to celebrate this first emotional victory with all of you" said Max Biaggi in front of the Italian company staff. "I am really proud to represent you at the races and bring to fruition on the track all of your work. During the last lap at Brno I went over with my mind all my wins on Aprilias from 1992 onwards, I think I am the rider who more than anyone else has won with the colours of this company. I can also remember the excitement and the enthusiasm of all of my team on the pit wall! I really hope this result will be a good omen for a 2010 season at the very top, and not only on the tracks ".
Leo Francesco Mercanti, the man in charge of Product Development and Racing Activities of the Piaggio Group, added: "The win at Brno is an extraordinary result because it took the Aprilia RSV4 machine onto the top of the podium in a remarkably short period of time.
This is a bike that stands up well to the latest levels of motor cycling technology and is the result of the skill and passion of the Aprilia band and the entire Piaggio group. The win at Brno is a result that we accept with enormous pleasure as an important ‘first' and we hope that, as has so often happened in the past, this triumph will mark the beginning of a positive period for the company, in a commercial sense as well. We totally believe in the revolutionary RSV4 project and we think that racing activities, passion and victories are the most important contribution that we can give to waking up the market."
