“We ought to be optimistic about 125cc”
Blusens BQR approach the 2008 season with a revamped look, hoping for good results in the 250cc and 125cc classes, under the direction of team boss Raul Romero.
With Romero's colleague Ricard Jove playing a bigger role in the
sporting management of the project, the team will have a presence in the Spanish national championship (CEV), as well as on the Grand Prix scene.
In the 125cc World Championship Blusens will be represented by Spaniard Efren Vazquez, a 250cc rider in 2007, and young Englishman Scott Redding, a CEV graduate, of whom Jove comments: "He ended last season brilliantly in the Spanish national championship and was really on form. He will have the disadvantage of not knowing many of the MotoGP circuits, but I'm sure he will compete to a high standard in the World Championship."
"Without getting ahead of ourselves, we ought to be optimistic about 125cc this year and we should believe that we can do a good job", insists Jove. "We are excited about the prospects of our two talented, young riders who both have a great attitude. In the second half of the season I think we should regularly be earning points and fighting for the top ten."
Meanwhile, in the quarter litre category the team will feature Irishman Eugene Laverty and Russell Gomez, the Spanish Supersport runner-up.
Jove continues, "Although we will be in a different situation from a technical perspective in comparison with our 125cc package, we will continue working to improve our competitiveness. Our aim is to keep providing chances, creating projects for the future for young riders and giving them the best opportunities we can."
