“Next season will be very interesting”
New satellite Ducati riders Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli both jumped straight off their 2007 rides and threw themselves into testing onboard the Desmosedici GP7 after Sunday's race, putting in their first laps for Luis d'Antin's
Whilst the main objective was to get comfortable with an 800cc machine very different to those used by the duo in 2007, both managed to reduce their lap times from their respective bests in the Gran Premio bwin.com de la Comunitat Valenciana, something which made both Elias and Guintoli very excited about 2008.
“I'm happy; the test went better than I thought”, said Elias on Wednesday afternoon. “I'm already faster than I was on Tuesday and with last year's machine. A start like this is very satisfying, and I'm even less nervous than before after the way things have gone over the past two days.”
Guintoli added: “I like the bike, and I'm just taking my time to learn it. It's very different to what I'm used to, in terms of the chassis, engine and tyres, but there's big potential there and I think that next season will be very interesting.”
