Strong performance puts Lorenzo on provisional pole
Valencia : 250cc first qualifying session
Double 250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) produced a strong display in his final Friday qualifying run as a quarter litre class rider to take provisional pole at the Gran Premio bwin.com de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Lorenzo, who retained the title at the last round in Malaysia and this weekend says goodbye to his Aprilia team before heading into MotoGP with Yamaha for the 2008 campaign, concluded QP1 with a 0.451s advantage over Yuki Takahashi (Kopron Team Scot).

With Repsol Honda's Shuhei Aoyama third and Alex de Angelis (Master-Mapfre Aspar) fourth there are two Japanese riders on the provisional front row, while Shuhei's brother Hiroshi, who rides for Red Bull KTM, heads row two overnight.

Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot), Thomas Luthi (Emmi-Caffe Latte) and Julian Simon (Repsol Honda) are also on the second row, with the final 250cc qualifying session of the season to take place tomorrow afternoon at 3.05pm local time.
