Lorenzo edges out Dovizioso
Sepang : 250cc – Day One
World Championship rivals Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) and Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot) were the fastest two riders in today's 250cc QP1 session, with the reigning title holder just edging out his Italian opponent to take provisional
pole.

Of course Lorenzo is well in charge in the quarter litre class with a 45 point advantage as he looks to defend his crown in the last two races of the year, but while Dovizioso mathematically still has a glimmer of hope he intends to make things as difficult as possible for the champion.

Lorenzo went round the Sepang track in 2'08.876s to put himself provisionally at the front of the grid and will aim for his tenth confirmed pole of the year tomorrow – but ‘Dovi' was less than one tenth of a second slower and will set out to prevent the Spaniard from dominating another Grand Prix weekend when action recommences on Saturday.

Behind the leading pair on the timesheet were Alvaro Bautista (Master – Mapfre Aspar) and Thomas Lüthi (Emmi Caffe Latte).

Meanwhile Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM), Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera), Hiroshi Aoyama (Red Bull KTM) and Roberto Locatelli (Metis Gilera) provisionally fill the second row of the grid.
