Motegi : 125cc race
An incident packed 125cc race in tricky conditions at Motegi this morning saw Mattia Pasini (Polaris World) take his fourth victory of the season, with a controlled ride from pole at the A-Style Grand Prix of Japan.
The Italian rider continued
his excellent second half of the season form, with a 2.985s win ahead of World Championship leader Gabor Talmacsi - whilst the Hungarian's Bancaja Aspar team-mate Hector Faubel crossed the line third.
The general standings in the single cylinder class now see Talmacsi lead his Aspar colleague Faubel by nine points, with three races to go.
With the action starting on a wet track which dried slightly as the race unravelled, having lapped fastest in the morning warm-up Mike di Meglio (Kopron Team Scot) rode brilliantly from 12th on the grid until lap 14 – crashing out in second place but returning to the track to take fourth.
Joan Olive (Polaris World) came home fifth, with Simone Corsi (Skilled Racing Team) sixth and Pablo Nieto (Blusens Aprilia) seventh.
The conditions were hard to judge as Pol Espargaro (Belson Campetella Racing), Raffaele de Rosa (Multimedia Racing) and Bradley Smith (Repsol Honda) all discovered the hard way by crashing out when in good positions.
Sergio Gadea (Bancaja Aspar) was another front-running crasher - on lap five when in fourth - but he remounted in 16th place and fought back to finish eighth, while Michael Ranseder (Ajo Motorsport) and Andrea Iannone (WTR No Alcohol Team) completed the top ten.
