Pasini's eighth pole of 2007 confirmed
Motegi : 250cc Day two
For the eighth time this season Polaris World's Mattia Pasini will start from pole position in Sunday's A-Style Grand Prix of Japan, following another accomplished qualifying performance by the Italian.

The Aprilia rider could not match his
own new circuit best lap of 1'56.954s set in free practice this morning, but he did not need to as his QP2 time of 1'57.301 improved on his provisional pole effort by nearly a second and kept him 0.591s ahead of Red Bull KTM's Tomoyoshi Koyama.

Such was 250cc-bound Pasini's pace that third fastest qualifier Gabor Talmacsi (Bancaja Aspar) was 0.874s behind him, whilst Talmacsi's title rival and Aspar team-mate Hector Faubel completed the front row of the grid a sizeable 1.270s off the pole time.

A decent run by Bradley Smith (Repsol Honda) saw him take fifth spot, while Simone Corsi (Skilled Racing Team) remains sixth on the grid courtesy of his Friday time. Joan Olive (Polaris World) and Lukas Pesek (Valsir Seedorf Derbi), meanwhile, complete the second row for the Japanese contest.
