Czech Republic beckons for Nakano
With new parts expected
The KONICA MINOLTA Honda Team arrive this weekend in the Czech Republic refreshed after a three-week summer break.

Much of the practice time for the KONICA MINOLTA Honda Team around the 3.36mile Brno circuit will be spent analysing updates
to their Honda RC212V to ensure that the bike has the best setting possible for Sunday's 22-lap race.

The 800cc machine, which has remained the same since pre-season testing began last November, will have a number of new parts fitted to it. It is hoped the changes will help the team's rider Shinya Nakano benefit from improved performance and receive more feedback from the front-end of his RCV.

The Brno circuit is the second longest on the MotoGP calendar and is one of the riders' favourites. It's a diverse track, being fast and technical, with rapid changes of direction and a number of downhill corners, which test the front-end of a MotoGP machine. This year is the 20th anniversary of racing at the revised Brno circuit.

Gianluca Montiron – Team Manager KONICA MINOLTA Honda
“We have all enjoyed the summer vacation and now we come back to MotoGP with our batteries fully re-charged! Our important news is that we will receive some new parts that should change the character of our RC212V machine. We fully appreciate the effort, support and investment that HRC has made by supplying us with these new parts. Brno is a very technical circuit, with some corners reminiscent of Mugello: fast and sweeping. For the rider it is a very exciting layout. We have received much support from HRC and Michelin and we trust that in the second part of the season we should have improved performance. I think that this is the moment that Shinya needs to show his true potential.
We trust in Shinya's ability and the final races of the season in the next few months will determine our future in MotoGP. Our weekend at Brno will be spent finding our way with these new technical parts. From the team side of things it will be very hard work, as we will need to concentrate a lot, as in the short practice time available we need to get the bike right for Shinya ready for the race.”

Shinya Nakano – Rider, KONICA MINOLTA Honda
“Before the summer break we were making some steady improvements in a number of areas so that's a base from which we can move forward. I've enjoyed some rest back home in Japan so now I'm looking forward to the next race at the Czech Republic. It's a track I enjoy very much despite my previous results there not being my best. We should also have some new parts which makes the second part of the season very exciting for us.”

Giulio Bernardelle – Technical Director, KONICA MINOLTA Honda
“We have all enjoyed the summer break, but now it's back to work! From Friday morning we will have some new parts for one of our RC212Vs. For back-to-back testing, one machine will have the new parts and we will check the difference between the standard bike and the updated machine. My expectation is to see some improvement as the Repsol Honda factory team has tested a lot with these new parts, so HRC know they give improved performance. I think these changes will give a better feeling to Shinya, so we hope that this will help his confidence with the front-end of the bike. Brno has changed a lot over the years. With the 990cc bikes, it wasn't so fast as most corners were 2nd or 3rd gear. With the 800cc bikes we will have to see, but I don't think it will be as fast as it was for the old 500cc two-strokes. Brno is a very nice track and has the sort of layout with which the rider can make the difference.”
