Alonso wins while Fisichella crashes out
Fernando Alonso led the race from lights to flag, on a two stop strategy that saw him visit the pits on laps 21 and 40. He managed skilfully his Michelin tyres over the race distance, and made full use of the performance of the R25 and its RS25 engine, which suffered no problems during the second race of its life cycle.

Ferrari left searching for answers
The Ferrari team and key partners leave Sepang and the Malaysian Grand Prix well aware that they have plenty of work to do after Michael Schumacher finished in a distant seventh position scoring his first two points of the year. Rubens Barrichello did not finish the 56-lap race after pulling his F2004 M into the pits to retire from 11th place late in the race.

Christijan Albers bags first F1 race finish
Minardi drivers, Patrick Friesacher and Christijan Albers experienced widely varying fortunes in today’s Malaysian Grand Prix.
Run in 35° Celsius heat at the Sepang International Circuit near Kuala Lumpur, the race is generally regarded as the toughest on the Formula One schedule, and so it turned out to be for the Minardi pair.

Heidfeld rewarded with a fine podium position
The BMW WilliamsF1 Team achieved it s first podium of the season today with a well deserved third place from Nick Heidfeld, who also equalled his previous best finish ever.

Mark Webber however failed to finish after running strongly in the points after he and Australian Grand Prix winner Giancarlo Fisichella collided.

A well-deserved first podium for Toyota
Toyota today scored its debut podium position after an outstanding drive from Jarno Trulli ensured he comfortably ended the gruelling 56-lap race in second position. A determined drive from Ralf Schumacher, not without its dramas, made it two cars in the top five for the German-based squad, a total of 12 World Championship points and second place in the Constructors' Championship.

Raikkonen left deflated as Montoya scores
Juan Pablo Montoya finished fourth in today's 56 lap Malaysian Grand Prix for McLaren Mercedes while team-mate Kimi Raikkonen's race was effectively over when a tyre valve failure on the out-lap following his first pitstop caused the right rear tyre to fail and forced him back into the pits.

Coulthard and Klien back in the points
Red Bull Racing's David Coulthard secured his spot in the history books today after finishing sixth in the 2005 Malaysian Grand Prix. By picking up three points for his fine sixth position at Sepang he became the highest-ever British points scorer as he surpasses Nigel Mansell's points tally.

Honda red-faced following double failure
BAR Honda were left bitterly disappointed after both cars retired with engine failures after just two laps of today's Malaysian Grand Prix. The cause of both failures appears to be a recurrence of the engine oil leak which caused Jenson Button to miss the fourth practice sessions on Saturday.
