News in brief from Monaco
'Super' sunny session
Red Bull's 'RB2' was unveiled on Saturday morning with a painted red cape on it, to mark the team's promotion of Hollywood blockbuster 'Superman Returns' at Monaco.

David Coulthard, Christian Klien and Robert Doornbos showed off real capes for photographers in pitlane, but Coulthard might also have found some superpowers as he powered ... [ more ]
Dennis expects to be gone by 50th anniversary
Hoping to be on the beach by then...
Ron Dennis says he is unlikely to still be in charge of McLaren in a decade.
The Woking based team is celebrating its 40th anniversary at the Monaco Grand Prix, but 30 per cent shareholder and principal Dennis told Reuters that he would not be around for McLaren's 50th in 2016.

"To be quite honest, I'd just be delighted ... [ more ]
Schumacher questions Red Bull focus
Making a splash in Monte Carlo
Red Bull Racing's F1 cars and drivers will adopt an unique 'Superman'-look for qualifying and the Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.
But while a bit of clever PR never goes astray in the F1 paddock, some wonder whether it is the 'raison d'etre' for a team whose marketing budget rivals that of some of the smaller teams.

Michelin could be caught in Monaco
Speculation ahead of Monaco qualifying
Going by Thursday's form, Michelin runners are going to dominate the 2006 Grand Prix of Monaco.
"I think it is clearly the better of the two tyres," said McLaren's Ron Dennis, whose team - alongside Renault - looked particularly quick on the opening day.

However, there is a growing feeling that Bridgestone-shod ... [ more ]

Villeneuve keen to stay in F1
Seeking that winning feeling
Jacques Villeneuve, 35, has no plans to quit Formula One. The French-Canadian, emerging from an extremely dark era in his career whose origins stretch back some seven years, is this season re-establishing his reputation alongside the highly rated Nick Heidfeld, at BMW Sauber.

Briatore mocks rival Honda
The cost issue of development
Renault boss Flavio Briatore has mocked Honda for wanting to tone-down the FIA's planned technical rules for 2008.
The Italian said the Brackley based carmaker's pleas for more technological freedom make no sense because it has not won even a single Grand Prix.

"These people have never won a race," said the exasperated ... [ more ]
Schumacher finds an upbeat mood
Hoping to move towards the sharp end
Michael Schumacher used his free-Friday in Monte Carlo to backtrack on his pessimistic analysis of a day earlier.
The German, completing one or two PR duties around town, said Ferrari is 'experienced enough' to recover from its lacklustre opening day. On Thursday, he summed up the 248 F1 saying it was 'too slow'.

Red Bull say no to driver hints
No hurry to firm up 2007 line up
Red Bull will not be making a decision about drivers for 2007 until later this summer, boss Christian Horner said in Monaco.
Refusing to entertain speculation that either David Coulthard or Christian Klien could get the chop, he insisted: "Well, we have done only six races and to be talking (now) about next year is very early."
